On May 28, 2025, a tragic accident occurred in the municipality of Lobmingtal, Styria, in which a 47-year-old tractor driver from the Murtal district lost his life. The incident occurred at the "Sonnberg" around 4 p.m. when the tractor, which was equipped with a mower, came off the street and fell about 200 meters over a slope. The tractor overturned before it came to a standstill on a forest road. The driver was caught under the vehicle. Despite the rapid help of a large prayer of emergency services, including the fire brigades Großlobming, Kleinlobming and Knittelfeld, as well as the Red Cross and a rescue helicopter, the man died at the scene of the accident. The relatives of the deceased are now supervised by the crisis intervention team. The State Police Directorate excludes external fault at the current time. The fire brigade was alerted by the victim's wife, who worried about her husband's late return.

Following the accident, an extensive commitment of the firefighters was required. At 7:00 p.m. in another incident in which a tractor threatened to crash through an embankment, the fire brigade successfully intervened. 45 firefighters, led by section fire inspector Christoph Leitner, secured the vehicle with ropes. They were supported by farmers present. The assignment lasted about two hours, in which the tractor could finally be secured with cable winches and pulled back onto the street.
