Traisentalbahn is modernized: Half -hourly cycle planned by 2027!
Hainfeld, Österreich - On June 18, 2025, Lower Austria's State Council of Transport Udo Landbauer informed about the progress of the Lower Austrian railway offensive, which focused on the modernization of the Traisentalbahn and Gölseltalbahn. A central goal of this offensive is the introduction of a half -hourly cycle between Hainfeld and Traisen to improve driving comfort and travel times. The planned electrification and comprehensive modernization of the Traisentalbahn should be completed by the end of 2027.
The current construction progress is promising. The new Durlasbach Bridge has already been completed and the Bernreit crossing station is ready for operation, even if the last remaining work is still available. In addition, the technology building in Hainfeld was completely built, and 230 overhead line masts have already been set. Further significant construction work is planned for July 24, 2025, including the unit of the Mühlbach Bridge and the Wiesenfeld - Schwarzenbach bridge structure, whose climbing is scheduled for the end of July.
extensive investments to improve rail transport
The modernization of the Traisentalbahn comprises an investment of 138 million euros, as reported by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). The measures include not only track and infrastructure moderation, but also a barrier-free expansion of the train stations and stops. Additional attention is on the creation of Park & Ride and Bike & Ride systems, which improves the connection to rail traffic.
Another measure to increase security is to be released. These are to be replaced by modern security systems in order to minimize the risk of accidents.
