Unforgettable discoveries: Weißenbach pensioners on a big trip

From September 30th to October 3rd, the seniors of the Weißenbach local group went on an exciting trip to Saarland, Luxembourg and Metz. A magnificent journey that not only showed the landscape beauties of the region, but also offered cultural highlights.

The first stop led the group to the Europadorf Schengen on the Moselle, which is located in the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg. Here the participants learned interesting facts about the Memorial of the Schengen Agreement, which stands for free passenger transport within Europe. This was a symbolic and informative start of the trip.

Luxembourg's fascination discover

The state capital Luxembourg impressed the travelers with an exciting mix of traditional and modern architecture. During a city tour, the seniors received an insight into important European institutions, including the European Court of Justice. The participants were particularly enthusiastic about the UNESCO-protected old town as well as the sight of the cathedral and the magnificent Grand Ducal Palace. A true highlight was the view of the lower town of Grund of the Corniche, which is often referred to as the "most beautiful balcony in Europe".

Metz was on the program the following day. This city, embedded between the rivers Moselle and Seille, enchanted the group with its rich history. The old town and the historic Kaiserviertel Bestachen through impressive architecture and cultural diversity. The travelers from the Center Pompidou and the Majestic Cathedral of Metz were particularly impressed with its colorful glass windows, including works by the famous artist Marc Chagall. The day crowned a relaxing shipping through the large Saar loop in Mettlach, where nature could be experienced in full bloom.

On the way back there was another highlight: the world's largest pumpkin exhibition in the flowering Baroque Ludwigsburg. Here the old feet were combined with the art of pumpkin design. The large number of copies shown in different shapes and colors ensured a magical end of this remarkable journey.
