Give hope: Donation campaign for prisoners in the Reutte district
In a special act of charity, the parish councilors and representatives from the pastor region Reutte came together in Elbigenalp in early October. Surrounded by the inspiring atmosphere of the House of the Merciful Sisters, they discussed opportunities to give hope in the current time. Under the motto "Hope - give hope", the profound idea of giving the 500 prisoners of the Innsbruck prisoner come to Christmas.
"Because I was in prison and you came to me," says a Bible verse from the gospel to Matthew. These words form the basis for the fundraising campaign. Those responsible want to show the detainees through lovingly packed packages that they are not forgotten despite their situation. The parcels should be filled with everyday joys such as solvents, shower gel, chocolate and cigarettes to send the prisoners a sign of hope.
support from the population asked
The campaign lives from the support of the community. Citizens are invited to pack Christmas packages, ideally in shoe boxes. These should not be glued to and contain the following articles in original packaging: solvent coffee, shower gel, chocolate or cigarettes. The packages must be handed over in one of the parish churches in the pastoral room by November 28th.
In addition, there is also the possibility to contribute to the campaign by donating money. With the donations, missing items can be bought or particularly needy prisoners support. The corresponding bank details for this are:
• BIC: RZTIAD22
• IBAN: AT84 3600 0070 5392
• Use: Diocese of Innsbruck - prisoner care.
a powerful sign of charity
The initiative is not only practical help, but also an important gesture of solidarity. Due to the lovingly packed gifts, the prisoners can experience a little break from their everyday life. It is a memory that community and humanity are important even in difficult times. This type of support helps to strengthen the extraordinary connection of the community and to set a sign of hope.
