Wörgl's swimming pool future: regional options are on the brink

Wörgl faces important decisions regarding the swimming pool project. The city administration has now prepared three different options: a regional bath, a small indoor and outdoor pool as well as a pure outdoor pool. The final choice will strongly depend on financial grants from the state of Tyrol.

Mayor Michael Riedhart clearly commented on the lack of funding and the blocked planning. "If the country in Wörgl would like a regional bath, we are ready to build it. It is up to you to participate accordingly. Otherwise we have no choice but to build a slimmed down swimming pool or simply build an outdoor pool," says Riedhart.

The available options

In the run -up to a possible implementation, the city carefully thought about the best solutions. "The total costs for the regional bath including all facilities are around 60 million euros. The country would have to contribute approximately 70% of the expenses, i.e. around 40 million euros," explains the mayor. A quick yes or no from the country could be crucial whether the municipal administration realizes a new swimming pool or just an outdoor pool.

The variants for the bathroom, which are available in advance in the drawers, could be used under various framework conditions. Riedhart emphasizes that the city does not want to be stopped. "If the country is not willing to provide the necessary financial resources, we are pulling the consequences and realizing a free -standing outdoor pool for the population," he explains. At the current unclear financial circumstances, you are already in the planning phase for checking a sports hall variant that would also ensure swimming lessons for young people in the area.

A significant development in the matter recently took place in the local council. The application from Mayor Riedhart to agree on a building law contract for a spacious property along Johann-Federer-Straße was accepted with a majority. This decision now ensures the “Regionalbad Wörgl” project a fixed basis. A crucial step in the direction of a possible implementation has been taken. The municipal administration is determined to start building the swimming pool promptly, depending on the financial support that it receives from the state government.

The debate about the swimming complexes not only shows the commitment of the Wörgler city government, but also the pressure under which those responsible are. Citizens are already very interested in a modern swimming pool, and the government is required to meet the wishes of the population.

How it goes on remains to be seen, especially in view of the financial aspects that will decide on the type of future swimming pool. The Wörgler citizens hope for rapid promises from the country to implement their long -awaited bathroom into reality, or for a satisfactory alternative that meets the needs of the community. The signs are on change, but a definitive solution remains one of the next steps in the struggle around the Wörgler swimming pool.
