Accident on A12: emergency doctor vehicle collides in the after-work traffic

A tragic incident occurred on November 6, 2024, around 5:50 p.m., on the A 12 Inntal Autobahn in Innsbruck. An unknown driver who was traveling in a western direction not only brought himself in danger through an unexpected brake maneuver, but also an emergency doctor and a subsequent ambulance. These two emergency vehicles were in use with the blue light and follow -on tone horn.

The driver of the unknown vehicle suddenly braked, which led to a critical Situation. While the driver of the emergency vehicle was just able to avoid a collision due to a full braking, the subsequent ambulance was no longer able to slow down in time and crashed into the emergency doctor.

injured and damage

Through the rear-end collision, three people, two men aged 24 and 25, and a 48-year-old woman, suffered an undetermined degree. Fortunately, they were able to go to the Schwaz hospital independently to be medical care. The two emergency vehicles also suffered property damage, the amount of which is currently still unclear.

After the incident, a lane of the motorway was closed to the accident recording and the rescue car. This led to considerable traffic disruptions, since the afternoon traffic in Innsbruck was strong at that time. The traffic jam spread and ensured long waiting times on the highway.

The driver of the first vehicle simply continued his journey after the accident without taking care of the consequences of his actions. This leaves questions about traffic safety and the responsibilities in road traffic. The police authorities are still looking for witnesses who can provide information on the driver or the exact circumstances of the incident.
