The Lueg Bridge on the Brenner Autobahn (A13) near Gries am Brenner faces significant changes because it has reached the end of its lifespan. The bridge has been monitored intensively for years. The latest review has shown that from January 1, 2025, a single -streak traffic in both directions will be necessary for security reasons.
Currently, renovation work on the road is urgently needed on the bridge, which means that the roadway has to be narrowed on a lane. This measure to remedy the road damage was deliberately planned for a lesser time. Nevertheless, there is a long traffic jam almost every day, and the renovation work must be completed before winter. One expects the work to continue until the end of October.
traffic routing and test phase
In summer, a test phase for a two -lined traffic routing was carried out, with heavy traffic was led into the middle of the road. These tests have shown positive results. From 2025, this traffic routing is to be applied north on particularly busy days, in about 170 days to the south and 160 days north. An important knowledge from the tests is that a control system has to be set up near the bridge.
A driving calendar that specifies on which days the two -lined regulation applies will be created in the coming weeks. Truck dosing days and days with driving bans for trucks are also taken into account. Around 15 additional days are planned with truck driving bans, while the capacities of the rolling country road (Rola) are expanded. In order to prevent the less important road network at traffic jams, barriers along the A13 are planned. Finally, a Europe -wide campaign is started for better information.
The renovation work begins from October 7th. These are dependent on the weather and should be completed within three to four weeks. Construction work on the bridge itself can only start when the procedures at the Tyrol Regional Court are completed. The first bridge structure is expected to be completed in two and a half to three years, while the entire bridge should be completed in 2030. The urgency and the need for these measures are of great importance for security and traffic flow on this important traffic axis.
