Innsbrucker volleyball team in the CEV Cup: To new heights!
The Innsbruck volleyball players, the TI volleyball players, face an important international match in the CEV Cup, one of the most prestigious competitions in Europe. The first of two games against Békéscsaba from Hungary will be played on Wednesday. This duel is particularly important because the Innsbruck women are still unbeaten in the current season in the Austrian Volley League and in the ÖVV Cup.
"We are excited to be a game at eye level," said Michael Falkner, the association's chairman, and thus emphasizes the challenge that the Hungarian opponents represent. The necessary second leg will take place on November 13th in Innsbruck. It is interesting that the journey for the Innsbrucker within a flight of Memmingen via Temesvar was actually shorter than the journey by car, which would have taken around ten hours.
preparation and training
The decision to travel by plane was deliberately made because the players are so fit and ready for the upcoming game. Falkner emphasized that the trip was also very useful because the journey by car would have been too difficult. The first training session in the domestic hall is already pending on the evening of arrival. The Innsbruck women had little to prove themselves against their opponents in the last games, since the previous opponent, Sokol/Post, could only compete with a B-team.
Although the TI women in the Landesliga and the National Cup have shown top performance so far, the challenge remains in international competition. Because at the Mevza supercup they suffered three 0: 3 defeats, including one against Vasas Budapest, who also competes against BékéscSaba. Falkner noted: "We have still researched causes, but so far not found a reason for our slow start to the games."
key to success
The Innsbruck women are determined to continue the season and to successfully design the first rounds of the CEV cup. In their previous four victories in the domestic league, they represents the first sentence, which indicates job needs and potential for improvement. For the start of the game against Békéscsaba, however, the TI women are optimistic and strive to give everything to overcome this hurdle.
Falkner announced that his team will do everything possible to go to the internationally required battle. It remains to be seen how the Innsbruck women will do against the Hungarian representative, who is considered a serious competition. This exciting opening in the European Cup has potential for the volleyball world, and complete reporting on this competition is expected to extensively accompany the development of TI volleyball players.
