Biker gang in Tyrol: 18 arrests and drugs worth 9 million euros!
Innsbruck, Österreich - In Tyrol, a comprehensive drug trade network of the notorious Bikergang Bandidos was smashed, which led to a significant blow to organized drug trafficking in the region. According to krone.at , six supposed members of the gang in Innsbruck had to answer to court, including the 37-year-old major. They were accused of smuggling large quantities of cocaine from Italy to Tyrol from July 2021 to March 2024. At a raid in March 2024, 600 grams of cocaine were confiscated when the alleged head of the group was arrested at the Schönberg main toll point. Overall, the estimated amount of the smuggled cocaine has amounted to 150 kilograms in the past ten years, which corresponds to a street sales value of around nine million euros, such as Puls24.at reported.
arrests and legal proceedings
The investigation that included months of observations and numerous listening campaigns led to a total of 18 people in the rocker milieu. 14 men and four women who are suspected of being active in drug trafficking were arrested. The police also prevented the foundation of an official branch of the Bandidos in Tyrol. According to the searches, in addition to the drugs, a total of 8,000 euros in cash and various weapons could also be ensured, which further underlines the group's criminal activities.
In court, the accused were mostly confessed, but one of them denied the exact amount of the smuggled cocaine. However, the presiding judge Andreas Fleckl was convinced that everyone involved was informed about the drug trafficking and ruled that the evidence was clear. The judgments were different: the main defendant received six and a half years in prison, while others were sentenced to punishments between 18 months and three years. In this case, the public prosecutor sees a crucial step to combat drug trafficking in Tyrol.
