Helpfulness in the Stubai Valley: Community shows strength despite crises
The increasing cost of living in Tyrol burden many citizens, especially those who are already in financial difficulties. In the middle of this challenging situation, the "A valley helps" initiative inspired a variety of community campaigns. Organized by the Vinzenz communities in the Stubaital, Caritas Tirol and the Red Cross Innsbruck Land, a remarkable sign of solidarity was set to support the needy.
Over a period of three weeks in November, durable food and hygiene items were collected. The response was enormous: the camp of the Austria Team Tafel in Fulpmes, which benefited from numerous donations, is now well filled. This ensures additional support for the next few months for people in the Stubai Valley, who in many cases cannot afford the basic things of everyday life.
increasing need: if supermarket donations do not exist
The situation is also more difficult because the donations in kind from supermarkets are becoming increasingly rare. Michael Voldauer, district office manager of the Red Cross Innsbruck Land, explains: "Less food waste is good for the environment, but it means that we are increasingly dependent on private donations. Actions such as 'A valley helps' are therefore essential for our work."
It is an indication that the commitment of the community is crucial to meet the increasing demand. While the prices for energy and food are increasing, the need for such initiatives is becoming increasingly urgent.
community in focus: help that connects
The participation of almost 1,000 children from elementary schools and kindergartens of the Stubai Valley was particularly touching in this example of helpfulness. They set a strong sign of solidarity on Martin's Day by contributing their donations. Christine Oberkofler from Caritas Tirol emphasizes how important it is to bring these young people the values of empathy and responsibility: "Share and help gives the children important values and shows all of us how strong we are when we don't leave anyone."
It is not only a material support, but also a valuable lesson for the future of these children, the learning that community spirit and cohesion are essential to overcome challenges.
Thanks to this remarkable community initiative, the need for support in the Stubai Valley is secured for the coming months. Table coordinator Josef Nagele from the Red Cross Innsbruck Land is overwhelmed by the support: "I am overwhelmed by the support. We can now help for a few months. Thanks to everyone who has made this action possible!"
This action is an encouraging example of how a community comes together in times of need to support its members. With these joint experiments it becomes clear that even small contributions can make a significant difference in the life of those who need help.
