Thousands of Israelis demand ceasefire: a desperate outcry!
Tel Aviv, Israel - On June 8, 2025, thousands of Israelis in Tel Aviv demonstrate for a ceasefire in conflict with Hamas, while the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to accept catastrophic dimensions. Hamas published a disturbing picture of Israeli Geisel Matan Zangauker, who apparently has an infusion on the arm. The organization threatened that Zangauker would not survive his hostage.
The protests in Tel Aviv were accompanied by emotional appeals. Einav Zangauker, the mother of the hostage victim, said during the demonstration that she could no longer endure the "nightmare" and criticized the Israeli head of government Benjamin Netanyahu. Noam Katz, whose father Lior Rudaeff was dragged into the Gaza Strip, also called for an immediate end of the fights and appealed not to endanger any further soldiers. So far, of the 251 people who made Hamas and their allies disappear from Israel, 55 are still custody in the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli information, at least 31 of these hostages are already dead.
military escalation and negotiations
The situation has tightened again after a two -month ceasefire that ended in March. The Israeli army has strengthened its military actions in the Gaza Strip to smash Hamas, which triggered the current Gaza war with a major attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. On Friday, the death of four soldiers of the Israeli army was confirmed during an explosion in Khan Younis.
parallel to the military activities, negotiations on ceasefire, with the imparting of Egypt, Qatar and the USA, have so far been unsuccessful. The pressure on the Israeli government is growing, especially in view of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which is further tightened by a blockade of the Israeli military that has lasted for more than two months. In Gaza there is a lack of food, drinking water, medication and everyday needs.
international reactions and humanitarian aid
The situation is critically perceived internationally. While the British Prime Minister Keir Strandmer called the situation in the Gaza Strip as unbearable and demanded more humanitarian aid, the new "Gaza Humanitrian Foundation" (GHF) has planned initiatives for reorganizing the distribution of relief goods. This foundation, consisting of private US security forces and representatives of aid organizations, is intended to ensure that relief goods are distributed to the Palestinians without having access to Hamas. However, UNICEF and other international aid organizations say that these plans could be in danger of civilians, especially old, sick and disabled people. In the USA, Israeli ambassador Mike Huckabee caused a sensation after expressing sharp criticism of France's demand for his own Palestinian state. Other reports show that a ship with the climate activist Greta Thunberg delivered relief supplies to Gaza on board, but which are called "symbolic".
The international community faces the challenge of cope with the flow of refugees and at the same time put pressure on the parties to the conflict in order to find a sustainable solution. The conflict remains a central topic in the Middle East, in which every step has both geopolitical and humanitarian consequences.
Developments in the region and the associated humanitarian questions remain tense and require urgent attention.
