Sturm devastated Mödling: Fire brigade in constant use after damage!
On the evening of July 6, 2025, Mödling experienced violent gusts in Lower Austria, which caused numerous damage during a short thunderstorm in the urban area. These gusts meant that the Mödling-Stadt volunteer fire brigade had to coordinate a total of 14 missions between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. As part of these operations, broken branches, loose antennas and fallen construction fences were found and remedied.
The emergency services were well prepared and, due to the high amount of accommodation, had occupied a newly furnished section alarm center to relieve the area salary center. Over 25 fire brigade members were deployed with seven vehicles, from which they could quickly switch between the different areas of equipment. The case of an branch in Neugasse, which fell on a parked car and caused considerable property damage, was particularly striking. The branch was secured with an engine chain saw after crushing.

In addition, numerous other broken branches and fallen garbage containers were removed and secured. According to the fire brigade, the situation in the urban area was tense, but the use went without major incidents.
In addition to the events in Mödling, a look at the region shows that the fire brigades were also required in other parts of Lower Austria due to similar storm damage. According to orf.at, around 120 missions were recorded by the fire brigade all over Lower Austria. These missions mainly affected fallen trees and demolished branches and mainly took place in areas around Vienna.
The Viennese professional fire brigade moved out about 70 times to remove damage and pay attention to safe conditions. Especially in Himberg and Traiskirchen arose problems when trees fell on power lines. Fortunately, there was no injuries in this context, which can be seen as a positive result of this tense situation.
Overall, it can be seen that the Mödling-Stadt fire brigade and the numerous efforts by the emergency services made an important contribution to the security of the citizens. Despite the violent gusts of wind, the Mödling and the surrounding areas brought into trouble, could be prevented by quick action and well -organized missions.
