Austrian civil protection sample alarm with new cell phone alarms and warning systems
Next Saturday, October 5, 2024, Austria is facing a nationwide civil protection test veneer. An important opportunity to ensure that the country's warning and alarm systems work optimally and the population are familiar with the various alarm signals.
The special thing about this trial alarm is the additional transmission of two test messages via the new population warning system at-Alert as a cell phone alarm. The schedule for the trial alarm stipulates that a test message takes place at level 2 of the EU-Alternat at 11.55 a.m.
A decisive purpose of the trial alarm is to check the technical facilities of the warning system and the sensitization of the population to the importance of the different signals. Austria has an effective warning and alarm system that is operated centrally by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Office of the State Governments.
It is important that the citizens know the signals and know how they should react in an emergency. The civil protection signals are spread over more than 8,200 sirens across the country and can be triggered by the Federal Warning Center or the State Warning Center depending on the Situation.
In the case of a real alarm, clear behavioral measures apply to the population according to the various signals. It is therefore of great importance that all citizens can understand the signals and react correctly.
