Focus on protective forests: Learn to secure the LFS Kobenz Habitat
In the week of the protective forest, 20 pupils of the Agricultural Higher Regional Center (LFS) Kobenz are active in order to raise awareness of the importance and care of protective forests. This adventure pedagogy takes place as part of a practice week, which offers future specialists to practical insights into the challenges of protective forest care. Here you will learn how important these forests are for the safety of settlements and infrastructures, as they protect against natural hazards such as avalanches and floods.
involved in this important project are the forestry service for torrent and avalanche development (WLV) and the Styrian State Forest Service. Their common goal is to bring the students how to work and the benefits of torrent barriers. This is done through visits to protective structures, in which the students speak and understand with experts at WLV, how the flow energy is controlled by water in order to minimize dangers for the settlement area.
practical insights into the protective forest
The focus is particularly on the protection of the local area in the St. Mareiner Feuerbach project. Here, the students learn that extensive forest measures are necessary to establish a location adapted and climate -like protective forest. These measures are not only preventive, but also long -term to ensure the stability and security in the region.
State Councilor Simone Schmiedtbauer supports the initiative through financial means and motivates the students to recognize the valuable contribution that they can do through their future work to secure rural areas. "Well trained to make a very valued contribution, makes the students proud," she said.
Mayor Bruno Aschenbrenner, who was also involved in the campaign, gave the students an insight into the processes of natural hazards management at the community level. He emphasized the importance of the protective forest in the prevention of natural hazards and expressed: "The security of the municipal area and its inhabitants is our top priority."
A special feature of this week is a role -playing game in which the students represent various interest groups, including those who are entitled to hunting, the local council and organizations such as the WLV. This interactive element promotes understanding for the cooperation of everyone involved in order to find successful solutions. The pupils learn that success in protection forest maintenance can only be achieved through a united exertion and dialogue.
By combining theory and practice, the students at the LFS Kobenz learn how essential to maintain protective forests for the safety and protection of their community. The initiative contributes to the fact that future generations develop a deeper understanding of natural resources and their meaning and actively work for their preservation.
of this practical experience and the knowledge that the students acquire, plays an important role in their training. The commitment of the LFS Kobenz and its partners has the potential to form future specialists that are able to make responsible decisions in agriculture and forestry and thus make a significant contribution to nature conservation.
