The Murtal Lions, who played even higher in the Öehl last season, travel to Leoben with an increased squad. Names such as Marco Quinz, Daniel Panzer and Patrick Herzl, who come from the elite league team, as well as the promising talents of Lukas Diethard and Kilian Mayerl, are new. In addition, Valentin Bärnthaler from Linz was hired. Together, these players should ensure that the Lions play a competitive role in the elite league.

The Murtal Lions also have an interesting player in their ranks: Michael Grünis, who grew up in Leoben. His late father, Karl Grünis, was once an important part of the Leoben team. Grüneis said about his home club: "For me there was only one option in Styria to lace up my skates. So only the EVZ was an option." This attachment to the region and passion for sport are of great importance for fans of the ice hockey elite league.
