ÖVP starts intensive election campaign: Drexler promises clear majorities for Styria

The Styrian ÖVP gave a lively start to the intensive election campaign for the state election on November 24th on Monday evening. In a particularly staged arena setting in the Graz trade fair, more than 1,000 officials gathered, mainly members from Graz. Governor Christopher Drexler gave the start for his Steiermarkt tour, which will lead him to all twelve districts in the coming days.

The event started with a delay because the places in the "arena" were quickly fully booked. Many of the participants had to fall back on a transfer in the foyer, which is rather unusual at a party event. The room arrangement recalled a boxing arena where the speakers were placed in the middle of the hall while the audience was all about. State Managing Director Detlev Eisel-Eiselsberg interpreted the numerous faces that appeared as a sign of cohesion and expressed the urgency of the election campaign. "The duel for the governor's armchair is there and it's about a lot," he warned. Among the guests of honor were also prominent personalities such as the old country capitals Waltraud Klasnic and Hermann Schützenhöfer as well as the Minister of Education Martin Polaschek.

important speeches and appearance of the candidates

The tension rose when the candidates stepped onto the stage for the election, followed by the government team of the ÖVP, which was welcomed with standing ovation. The appearance of Landtag President Manuela Khom was particularly entertaining, who heated up the audience with funny comments. The applause that she received for her engaging presentation showed that the mood in the hall had arrived at a climax.

A highlight of the evening was the "Duo August", which caused a good mood with humorous dialogues, including regulars' jokes. A non -party member, the actor August Schmölzer, addressed important topics and criticized the current perception of the situation in Austria. Nevertheless, he expressed his support for Drexler and praised his "cultural strategy 2030".

In his summary for the evening event, Drexler emphasized the core concerns of the election campaign: security, performance, migration, work and business. This was rewarded by the audience with great applause. "I want to go through the target together with you," he assured, emphasizing that success serves not only the party, but the well -being of Styria. He expressed the desire that Styria should never move into the stability.

Security and consequences

On the subject of security and migration, Drexler took a significant positioning. He emphasized the need for consistent police work to ensure the protection of the population. "We cannot make the whole city a protection zone," said his clear announcement. His direct reference to the city government's transport policy in Graz brought additional applause from the audience.

Manuel Eisel-Eiselsberg closed the evening with an appeal to those present: "The message after the protests in the European and the National Council election is: This time prefers to choose Styrian." After a 75-minute speech, he received standing ovation. The event ended with the sung Styrian national anthem.

Drexler will subsequently begin his tour through the Green Mark after the last state session on Tuesday and visit various events such as the Leonhardimarkt in Murau and a senior citizens' bond.
