Murau City Run: A party for running enthusiasts on the national holiday
On the national holiday, October 26, the eagerly awaited Murau city run took place. The event was organized by Regiomotion under the direction of Theresa Dorfer and received active support from around 70 volunteers from various Murau clubs. This ensured that everything went smoothly around the run and that the participants were well looked after.
Before the official start, over 650 active athletes came together at the square at the vocational school in Friedhofgasse. Here they had the opportunity to prepare for the competition. The moderators Jana Gruber, Lukas Bencsics and Theresa Dorfer kept the guests and participants informed about news and created a loosened atmosphere.
a run for the whole family
The city run was also suitable for families because parents with their little ones could take part in the stroller. After the start of the Nordic Walking Group, the various categories started: mini runners, children, young people and adults. The spectators on the route cheered the runners vigorously and ensured that the participants were all the more motivated to run their best times. This created a lively and happy mood along the route.
The popular mascots of the city run, Hopse and Sumsi, felt comfortable in the middle of the action and were warmly welcomed by the many visitors. After the race was completed, the award ceremony took place, in which beautiful prizes were raffled off in an exuberant atmosphere. The participating clubs such as the Murau shooting club, the city fire brigade Murau, the Murau old men and regiomotion also contributed to the festive mood.
It should be emphasized that the city run was also the final of the Austrian folklun cup. Runners from all over Austria had the opportunity to fight the title here. The best times in the general category were achieved by Hannah Galler by Raiffeisenbank Murau / Kolland Topsport Gaal and Markus Hartinger from Intersport Pintar. The organizers, led by Theresa Dorfer, presented the prizes together with Landtag President Manuela Khom and Vice Mayor Franz Mayrhofer, which further underlined the importance of the event.
