Stainach Clinic: Controversy for planning and costs in the state parliament

In the Styrian state parliament, a special meeting for the controversial plans for the Stainach Clinic took place. This meeting, which was called up at the request of the FPÖ and KPÖ, aimed to publicly discuss a report by the State Audit Office (LRH). Finally, the "Kleine Zeitung" reported on the critical points of the report, which took a close look at various aspects of the project.

The FPÖ expressed concerns about the plans for the lead hospital and questioned the decision -makers. Club chairman Mario Kunasek emphasized that the reasons for rejection, how long journey and demographic development, would be more difficult than approval of the project. Furthermore, he pointed out a referendum in 2019, in which more than 67 percent of the votes were against the clinic.

Questions about costs and personnel

In his speech,

Kunasek asked 16 questions, in particular on the overall cost structure of the project. According to him, a financing of 302 million euros is required by March 2024, which could increase to around 330 million euros at the time of completion in 2028. State Councilor Karlheinz Kornhäusl pointed out that the emergence of a powerful hospital in the Liezen district was necessary to counter the current challenges in health care.

The staff was a central topic. Kornhäusl argued that the three existing hospitals already reach their limits with the existing staff and that a new, central hospital offers the opportunity to respond more effectively to the needs of the population. He reported on the current problems caused by the defective personnel equipment and emphasized the need for a well -structured hospital in rural areas.

criticism of the concepts

The criticism of Claudia Klimt-Weithaler from the KPÖ was not only directed against the decisions of the governor Christopher Drexler (ÖVP), but also against the planned structure of the project. It referred to the problem of the PPP model (public-private partner-partnership) and the uncertainties regarding the reuse of the existing buildings. In addition, the state government asked for solutions for the challenges mentioned.

During the debate, the Green Lambert Schönleitner also brought his concerns to language and emphasized that a lot goes wrong during the planning. The non -existent approval for structural measures and the inadequate planning were mentioned as warning signs for the realizability of the project.

Neos club chairman Niko Swatek called for a transparent and appropriate provision of health care. He emphasized the state government's responsibility to give citizens access to high -quality medical care. "The population awaits a well -functioning system without access restrictions," said Swatek.

The discussion about the Stainach Clinic remains exciting, since every step and every decision can have far -reaching consequences for health care in the district. The LRH reported positively to the plans and emphasized the need for a new, well -functioning hospital. At the same time, the appropriate operator structure is a explosive topic that the state government still has to decide. Drexler concluded the debate with the explanation that a good project should not be criticized and that the past cannot be ignored, especially the problems that occurred during pandemic.
