Fire brigades in the region master challenging exercise in Sankt Martin
In an impressive demonstration event, the fire brigades of the Gröbming section showed how they would react to real emergencies. A large -scale exercise recently took place in Sankt Martin am Grimming, in which 160 firefighters were involved. Under the critical view of numerous delegates, including section fire inspector Josef Zörweg and Brandrat Benjamin Schachner, the emergency services simulated a fire in a farm building in the area around Vulgo Wurmberger.
The exercise took place in an exposed location that offered additional challenges, especially due to the lack of extinguishing water nearby. Before the start of the practical exercises, the present received a detailed presentation of the technical assistance test (DHLP), in which the individual steps were explained in detail.
alarm and first measures
After the alarm through the siren, the members of the fire brigades were called to the old saw, which is located near the main road in Sankt Martin. The command was transferred here. In the first phase of the operation, two tankers immediately made a fire -fighting attack to combat the flames.
In order to make fire fighting efficiently, a total of two 600 -meter -long supply lines were laid from the nearest fire water tank in the village of Sankt Martin to the Wurmberger farm. This measure was crucial to ensure direct water supply. In order to ensure that the fire water container was not completely emptied, the operations managers ordered the laying of another 1,200 meter long supply line from the salt subsidiary to the water tank. In addition, commuting was set up, in which tankers continuously filled the fire water tank.
successful exercise and evaluation
The exercise was a complete success. A total of 133 hoses with a total length of impressive 2.6 kilometers were laid. The fire brigade not only managed to achieve the goal of extinguishing water over long distances, but also to successfully conduct fictional human rescue. Then everyone involved met to analyze the exercise. Exercise observers discussed the processes and possible optimizations for future missions.
The event illustrated the importance of such practical exercises in order to keep the operational readiness at a high level. The skills and knowledge of the firefighters are sharpened not only through theoretical training, but above all by intensive practical exercises. This makes you well prepared for the challenges in an emergency.
