The review of the Regionalliga Ost

The rise of the Young Violets has significantly influenced the relegation situation in the Regionalliga Ost. The ASK Voitsberg will descend as the bottom of the 2nd league to the regional league center. The club ended the second division season in 14th place after it had been above the line since the 13th round. With this descent, the number of relegated team from the Regionalliga Ost is reduced to three, as ASV Siegendorf and FC Mauerwerk have previously been determined. SV Gloggnitz secured the relegation by a late equalization in the fourth minute of stoppage time against Kremser SC and was able to complete with 27 points, while the Favoritner AC had to descend with 26 points.

In addition to the results of the last match day, which also affected the relegated teams, further games took place: SV Leobendorf Castle with 5: 0 against ASV Siegendorf and SV Oberwart with 3: 1 against SC Wiener Viktoria, while TWL Elektra beat FC Masonry 4: 1.

The perspectives of the regional league

The season is coming to an end and there are still five rounds in the Regionalliga Ost. The number of relegations could be influenced by the 2nd league. Two to four relegations from the Regionalliga Ost are currently planned. If the four -tenth Dornbirn, which is in the relegation zone of the 2nd league, does not go through a positive license procedure, this could have an impact on relegation from the Regionalliga Ost.

In this context, other clubs such as DSV Leoben and Austria Salzburg, who have not received a license in the second instance, could have an impact on relegations from the regional league. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop and which teams can assert themselves in the race for maintenance by the end of the season.

For the Young Violets and their head coach Maximilian Uhlig, a new challenge in the 2nd league now begins, where they have to prove that they can exist in the second highest division.
