Truck driver leaves breakdown and leaves disaster in the Gleinalmtunnel!
A dramatic incident occurred on Monday morning in the Gleinalmtunnel of the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) in Styria when a 51-year-old truck driver simply left his vehicle in the tunnel after a breakdown. The truck ensured smoke development, which was probably due to engine damage. At around 4:40 a.m., the driver put the truck off and fled to a subsequent truck, which led to an immediate lock of the tunnel, which the police were shown. According to OE24.at, the lock could be maintained from 4:42 a.m. to 5:24 pm again, before traffic again was released.
technical defects and legal consequences
The investigation after the incident quickly led to the driver left behind, who appeared at the towing company in the afternoon. While the motorway police carried out a thorough control of the truck, considerable technical defects were discovered. As meinzirk.at reported, among other things, tire damage and serious deficits in the loading securing of the charged cyclists were to be recorded. The on -board walls were only supported with cable ties. This led to the report of the driver to the district administration of Leoben due to the numerous traffic safety defects. The police immediately handled a security deposit of 4,000 euros, and the driver and the company in Munich also face high additional towing costs.
The 51-year-old stated that he was on the way from Munich to Serbia when the engine damage occurred and that he then informed ASFINAG. Nevertheless, he was prohibited from continuing, and the company was also held responsible for the grievances because the truck should not have been loaded in this state.
