Leoben starts in 2025 with a modern primary supply unit for everyone
Leoben faces an important innovation in health care. In April 2025, a modern primary supply unit (PVE) will open, which should offer the population more comprehensive medical care. This project comes at a critical time, since a lack of radiologists, specialists and other medical specialists can be felt. Especially in rural regions, ensuring high -quality health care is of great importance.
is planned to accommodate the PVE on the first floor of the service center at Verrenbergerstraße 12, on an area of around 500 square meters. The total costs for this project amount to 450,000 euros, of which the state of Styria contributes to rent. This investment in the health infrastructure shows the endeavor to secure and improve medical care in Leoben in the long term.
multifunctional equipment for the PVE
The new health facility is equipped with modern treatment rooms, including four regular treatment rooms, a physiotherapy room, a discussion room for therapies and a laboratory room. This versatile construction enables a wide range of medical services under one roof. The PVE is operated by the merciful brothers who have already gained experience with 810,000 outpatient patient contacts in Austria in 2023, which underlines the relevance and necessity of this innovation.
"We look forward to working," says Oliver Szmej, director of the merciful brothers. It should be emphasized that in addition to medical staff, nurses, physiotherapists and other health service providers will also work in the new unit. This ensures that the patients are taken holistically and not only offered acute treatments, but also health promotion, prevention and strengthening health competence.
support from the health insurance companies
The financing of the PVE is also remarkably regulated. The ongoing operation, including nursing staff and management, is largely supported by the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and the Styria Health Fund. This support is crucial to ensure the sustainable function of the facility and thus to ensure health care in Leoben in the long term.
Mayor Kurt Wallner informs about the long way that this project has had until the implementation. As early as autumn 2021, the first considerations and planning began in close cooperation with experts, ÖGK and the Styria health fund. This joint initiative testifies to a commitment that should find positive feedback among the population.
These developments are particularly important at a time when the demographic change and the associated increase in chronic diseases are recorded in society. The PVE should not only provide acute medical help, but also take preventive measures in order to promote and maintain the health of the population. This makes the new primary care unit in Leoben a central building block for future health care in the region and could serve as a model for other comparable projects in the coming years.
