Art and history in Styria Pavilion: Leoben 2025 at a glance
The anticipation for Styria Show 2025 grows because it brings a special highlight to Leoben. In the coming year, the impressive pavilion, which is a central part of this exhibition, will be set up in front of the town hall from August to November. This was recently announced in an information event in which some prominent personalities such as the scientific managing director of the Universal Museum Joanneum, Marko Mele, and member of the state parliament, Sandra Holasek.
The pavilion will not only be an architectural highlight, but will also act as a platform for contemporary art. Planned by the Graz architecture firm Studio WG3, the pavilion will be creatively incorporating elements of the history and architecture of Schloss Eggenberg, the main location of the exhibition. A remarkable feature will be a stylized mountains in the interior, which is supposed to connect between the old and the modern world. This representation is supplemented by works of art by established artists and young talents.
a deeper insight into the topics of the exhibition
Styria Show 2025 will be strongly shaped by the historical aspects of Eggenberg Castle, which will celebrate its 400th anniversary in the coming year. The pavilion will show artistic parallels between the living conditions of the time and today's challenges. The Leoben Mayor Kurt Wallner said that the pavilion is a wonderful opportunity to present the region's cultural diversity. Exemplary for what Leoben and Styria have to offer as a whole, he will treat topics that are both historically and contemporary.
"The pavilion has become an essential part of Styria. It will be shared in three parts in 2025 and one of them wanders to Mariazell, too, to Leoben. This is how he tells the topics of the show beyond the main location of Schloss Eggenberg," said Sandra Holasek, who illustrated the perspective of the state government. In Leoben she sees the perfect place for this pavilion, where tradition and modern challenges go hand in hand.
Styria Show would like to promote the interaction between the visitors with its concept. The pavilion will be a space for discussions and exchange by integrating both local and international perspectives. This is intended to help art as a medium to reflect on social issues and thus remain relevant.
The Pavilion of Styria Show 2025 will not only be an architectural piece in Leoben, but a living space for exchange, encounter and art. More details on the artists shown and the special program of the pavilion are currently still in progress, but will be announced in the coming months.
