186. Gösser Kirtag: party mood and music on the main square in Leoben
On Thursday afternoon at 11 a.m. the official starting sign for the 186th Gösser Kirtag on Leoben's main square was given. The event was ceremoniously opened with the traditional beer tapping, which Mayor Kurt Wallner carried out in the presence of master brewer Michael Zotter and governor Christopher Drexler. This event, which is often referred to by the locals as a "unofficial holiday", attracted numerous visitors in the morning who witnessed the first beer test in rainy weather forecast.
The mood was contagious when the beer barrel was opened. The ceremony was led by Harry Prünster, a well-known moderator and Kirtag master guest, while the group "Styrian Bohemian" provided musical entertainment.
