Golden award for Leibnitz farm shop: fruit bread wins!

In Styria, an award was recently awarded for the best handmade fruit and kletzen breads. At this year's state award of the Styria Chamber of Agriculture, the Leibnitz district showed top performances, with the Stoißer-Strohrigl Hofladen from Lebring-St. Margarethen received the gold medal for his delicious fruit bread.

With the Advent in front of the door, the 18-member jury, which took a close look at a total of 72 submitted products, highly high. Six rural baking agencies were awarded in the "Fruits and Kletzenbrot" category and thus also demonstrated the high level of domestic baking traditions.

Maria Nigitz from Takern-St. Margarethen in the Weiz district was honored with the state winning title for her excellent hand -made Kletzenbrot. Their bread is only characterized by the use of only natural ingredients, and it remains true to the traditional recipes, while they combine them with innovative approaches.

Kletzen- und Früchtebowns are not only in great demand, but also deeply rooted in the advent tradition. With their juicy loafs and the visible variety of fruits and nuts, they are a special delicacy, which is often baked with sourdough to keep the moisture better. The use of dried pears, also called Kletzen, is a trademark of this bread and ensures the typical taste.

This year, hard competition for the title of the state winner. The bread had to offer the jury consistently excellent quality in order to achieve the maximum 100 points. Only the best results were the strict assessment scale, which means that only the most perfect products were awarded.
