Christmas of hope: an evening for people in need in Graz

A warm gesture in the run -up to Christmas was organized by Lions Club, Caritas and Vinziwerke in Graz. On December 9, 2024, numerous people who suffer from poverty were found in the historic minority hall to enjoy a festive meal. Thomas Ferk, the chairman of the Vinzwerke Austria, emphasized the central message of the evening: "Confidence in good cooperation and hope that there is a good life for everyone". Many volunteers did priceless work before and during the event, which emphasized Gerald Krainer from the Lions Club Graz Forum. "The value of such an evening cannot be measured in euros, but in the working hours that our members apply here in advance," he said. Caritas director Nora Tödtling-Musenbichler noticed that this evening already represented Christmas for many guests.

baking together for a good cause

The Lions Club in Darmstadt is similarly committed. In December 2023, they organized a popular baking mixing activity to collect donations for a Christmas party in the Elisabethen hospice. The funds collected allow a festive event on Sunday, December 17, 2023, with a lovingly prepared Christmas dinner for the residents and employees of the hospice. The baking mixes were carefully manufactured and packed, which should show the team spirit of the Lions Clubs. At a club event in Darmstadt, the new delicious varieties, including vegan vanilla biscuits and chocolate chip cookies, were presented, and the demand was enormous. The high number of sales of these mixtures made it possible that the solemn meeting in the hospice can now be realized.

Both initiatives, whether in Graz or Darmstadt, stand for the strong commitment of the Lions Clubs, which comes particularly alive in the pre -Christmas period. Despite the challenges with which many people are confronted, they succeed in promoting these groups, hope and community. While the festive celebrations in Graz set a sign of charity, the baking campaigns of the Lions clubs offer a sweet way to do good and to strengthen the feeling of togetherness.
