Heavy violations at the truck convoy: Slovenian driver in the B66!
On Tuesday, the traffic police carried out a control campaign on the B66 in Feldbach and caught a 56-year-old truck driver from Slovenia. As orf.at , it quickly turned out that the driver had tried to avoid his statutory steering and rest periods. By using the driver card of a colleague that is not present, he was able to manipulate digital records and exceed the prescribed steering times by an incredible 73 hours.
A total of 28 violations were recorded within the last 29 days during the check, which led to 31 ads. The Slovenian was not allowed to continue and is now suspected of having fake a evidence. Such violations are not only problematic for traffic safety, but also legally regulated. According to adac.de , commercial drivers must adhere to certain steering times-max. 9 hours a day, with one exception for up to 11 hours. Continuously granted rest periods and regular breaks are required by law to prevent fatigue and to ensure safety in traffic.
Especially since May 1st, 2006, digital control devices that record these times and evaluate the authorities during controls must be installed. In the event of serious violations, there are high fines of up to 5000 euros for the drivers and up to 30,000 euros for companies. Ignorated rest periods and false records are not a cavalier offense, but are a significant risk to all road users.
