Nurses urgently wanted: Graz project offers entry opportunities!
Austria's care industry faces an acute crisis! Hundreds of nurses are urgently sought, while over 35,000 Styrians are unemployed, as recently recorded in the alarm report of the labor market service. The situation is intensified because around 15 percent more unemployed are recorded compared to the previous year. In order to counteract this bottleneck, the social welfare office of the city of Graz, together with BFI Styria, launched the project "Nursing is more - Graz orientation month for nursing professions". This initiative aims to offer potential career changers the opportunity to get to know the care area and to continue their education. The participants are given an insight into the various facets of care for one month, as well as the chance to find out about training opportunities. In addition, each participant receives a remuneration of € 518.44, as explained by the Graz.at The courses include both theoretical and practical units in house nursing and nursing homes, with various areas such as home aid, nursing assistant and qualified nurses presented.
Participation is open to all those who are at least 17 years old and have a compulsory mandatory training. Prerequisites are also known as knowledge of German in a written form at the A2 level and orally at B1 level. Austrian citizens and people with a valid residence permit can also take part in the program. The next course will take place in April 2024, followed by several other runs in the course of the year. This innovative program not only offers a valuable opportunity for new applicants, but is also an essential step to counteract the lack of staff in one of the most important sectors in Austria.
