Styrian state election: FPÖ and Kunasek strive for victory

In the run -up to the state election in Styria, National Council President Walter Rosenkranz (FPÖ) has moved into clear positions on the current political situation. The election will take place on Sunday, November 24th, and the expectations for the Freedom Movement (FPÖ) are high. A total of 941,509 Styrians who are entitled to vote are called to give their votes and thus choose the new state parliament.

The choice is particularly important that the strongest party is automatically commissioned to form the government in accordance with the state constitution. The FPÖ could benefit this regulation, especially since it also cut off a lot in the last election of the National Council. Political scientist Peter Filzmaier emphasizes that the FPÖ could possibly achieve the best result of its history in Styria, with a large number of undecided as a residual risk.

allegations and coalition talks

rosary was convinced in the Ö1 mid-lunch journal that the FPÖ candidate Kunasek should gain the election as a governor should go to the state government. "If you are the first to go through the goal, you also have the claim to become first and to put the governor," said Rosenkranz. Rosary rejects a role as Vice captain and warns that such a step could be perceived as unbelievable, which may have negative effects on voters.

However, the commissioning for government formation does not necessarily mean that the FPÖ has to cooperate with other parties. Similar to the past elections, negotiations could occur, in which Kunasek may not take the role of the head of government in a very short time. Political scientist Filzmaier allows Kunasek better chances in relation to the formation of the government of the FPÖ than in the federal government. He points out that the SPÖ state party chairman Anton Lang has not fully opposed a possible coalition with the FPÖ.

The coming weeks promise exciting developments in Styrian politics, and voters will decide on November 24th will decide who the next government should form. The situation remains dynamic and the movements in the background could be crucial for the future political landscape of Styria.
