Styrian increase the change of provider: focus on electricity and gas costs
In Styria there is a remarkable trend when changing electricity and gas providers. According to the independent regulatory authority E-Control, 32,866 citizens changed their providers in the first nine months of 2024. This number has increased significantly compared to the previous year, where there were only 22,271 changes.
The change rate is different: when electricity is 3.1 percent, it is 3.7 percent for gas. This reflects the growing concerns of people about increasing energy costs, a topic that increasingly employs many households.
ramp for heating periods and energy prices
With the break -in of the cooler temperatures, the heating season begins again. The winter of last year was mild, but the considerations of energy costs are still present. The high price of energy that burdens households remains a topic that stimulates people to act. Wolfgang Urbantschitsch from E-Control notes that the energy markets have now calmed down, but the future cold of winter remains unpredictable. "Energy efficiency and energy saving are crucial in the transformation of our energy supply," he said.
In a nationwide comparison, it turns out that on average, fewer people have changed their provider. With 274,150, from January to September 2024, compared to 282,596 in the previous year, the trend is not equally pronounced everywhere. The timelines are crucial, because with the expires of the electricity cost brake at the end of the year, it is expected that many consumers will receive higher bills again.
"It would now be essential to check your own electricity and gas prices," adds Urbantschitsch. These considerations meet a climate in which attractive offers for new customers are in circulation.
Interestingly, Styria is taking third place in the Austrian federal state comparison with regard to the change rate in the gas. These developments clearly show that the citizens of the country are sensitive to price changes and are ready to change their provider in order to use possible savings. For more information on the change and the current energy-specific developments, See the current reporting on www.meinbeinbezirk.at .
