Shaping the future: How local companies set sustainable impulses
In Germanysberg, an educational impulse event on the subject of “Smart & Green” recently took place. This was done in cooperation between the labor market service (AMS) and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO). Instead of just presenting dry theories, the participants were given an inspiring insight into concrete environmentally friendly business practices of regional companies.
In one of the first openings, moderator Thomas Wychodil pointed out the drastic effects of climate change, which already leaves significant traces in Austria. "The temperatures increase with us, twice as strong in Austria as in other world regions," he said. The numbers are particularly alarming: Vienna recorded 44 heat days last year, Graz had 38.
sustainability in practice
The expert Gerhard Lang explained the importance of sustainability to the numerous present, which is divided into three essential areas: social, ecological and economic aspects. He also made it clear that companies have to react proactively to the constantly growing requirements of sustainability by developing and implementing strategies.
The event showed that close cooperation between sustainability and business is necessary. For this purpose, two local entrepreneurs were presented who demonstrated impressively how sustainable practices can be successfully implemented in everyday life.
Eva Glawogger, owner of the flower shop "Mohnblume", explained that nothing is wasted with her. "Older flowers are dried and used for designs," she said. It also relies on environmentally friendly packaging of parchment paper instead of plastic. "We should all act environmentally consciously today," emphasized Glawogger.
Another example provided the "Schilcherland Saubermacher Disregungs GmbH", represented by Thomas Lagger and Ulrike Garber. This public-private partnership takes care of waste disposal in several communities and uses innovative telematics systems to optimize tours and avoid unnecessary trips. "We work almost paperless and use a AI-supported system to analyze the waste composition in real time," said Garber. This is how valuable resources are spared.
In addition, the AMS is involved in the promotion of "Green Jobs" and offers various training programs that are geared towards the requirements of a sustainable future. The WKO supports companies with the "sustainability" business initiative to promote the implementation of sustainable company processes.
In view of the current environmental challenges, it is clear that such initiatives are not only necessary, but also future -oriented. These developments show that sustainability and economy can and should go hand in hand in order to achieve both economic and ecological goals.Additional information on related topics can be found in a current article www.meinbezirk.at .
