The anticipation of Advent time grows noticeably in Germany. On December 1, not only the first Sunday of Advent will be celebrated, but also the first door of the Advent calendar is opened. The city is already in the preparations for the festive season and thus stands up for the upcoming Christmas.

The Christmas lights are already sparkling, the huts of the Advent village on Rathausplatz are ready, and a varied program attracts visitors. Whether festive events or traditional customs - Deutschlandsberg offers a unique atmosphere. On November 22nd at 6 p.m. the large Christmas tree at the Mariian column in cooperation with the music and art school Deutschlandsberg will be ceremoniously illuminated.

Adventdorf and culinary delights

From November 21, the guests can expect a cozy Adventdorf, which is enriched by the Uptown American Bar & Bistro under the direction of Thomas and Franziska Magerl. The pre -Christmas period is sweetened with offers such as punch, mulled wine and hearty waffles. The Kinderfreunde Deutschlandsberg also add a special note with a lovingly decorated hut.

The focus is particularly on the support of non -profit associations and schools, which their stands can present their own projects and homemade. A nostalgic carousel will take care of the little guests, which certainly ensures bright eyes.

The Adventdorf is open on the following days: Tuesday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sundays and on public holidays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. It even remains open until December 31st.

A highlight is the exhibition "Fascination of Sacred Art", which can be seen in the city gallery from November 28th to December 22nd. The vernissage will take place on November 28th at 7 p.m. From December 1st, small works of art by children, students and artists will present a new Advent window in the city gallery every day.

The pre -Christmas period will be even more special by visiting Nikolaus on December 5 at 4:30 p.m. on the main square. After a blessing ceremony, the Santa Clauses move on to bring small gifts to the children.

Another highlight is the traditional perch run on December 7th at 6 p.m. Here visitors can experience the customs up close and admire the wonderfully designed, hand -carved masks and costumes. Over 25 perch groups are presented by the association "Die Landsberger".
