New ski racing academy in monastery: professional training for children
The ski racing academy in monastery, which is under the direction of Christoph Koch, takes on their work to professionally promote talented elementary school children in ski racing. Koch, who has gained comprehensive experience as a coach of World Cuplan, Julia Scheib sees it as his mission, the training methods that he developed with Scheib to pass it on to the next generation.
The academy is based in the Kloster district, where there is close cooperation with the local elementary school. Thanks to the favorable location near the "Kluglifte-Hebalm" ski area and the support of the municipality of Deutschlandsberg, an ideal environment for a polysportive training program can be created that focuses particularly on the ski run.
innovative concept and support
The overall concept of the ski racing academy has been developed over the years and is considered innovative and valuable. ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober and Rossignol Race Manager Thomas Rimml support the project. In addition, the “Energy Styria” was won as the main sponsor and the Graz mutual insurance to minimize the costs for the children.
The training program currently includes two school days and could be extended to three afternoons next year. With additional weekend training, it is possible to increase the range of training to up to five days a week. The children are catered for during the training times and collected according to the units at the pick -up point in Deutschlandsberg.
"I am excited to see how this school -based training in elementary school age will affect the future development of children as a ski racer," explains Christoph Koch.
sighting training and information evening
A viewing training for the 2025/2026 squad takes place on December 14th at Hebalm. In order to keep the training quality high, the group is limited to a maximum of eight children. The program is currently being tested with children from the Kloster elementary school and an external student to ensure that it is implemented effectively and sustainably.
For parents who want to learn more about the ski racing academy, Koch organizes an information evening on Tuesday, December 3., at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall in Kloster. Interested parties are asked to register at info@scsvkloster.at.
