National holiday in Trahütten: Children celebrate with stories and chestnuts

October 26 is a very special day for the Austrians, because it symbolizes the independence of the country. On this day in 1955, Austrian neutrality came into force. In order to appreciate this important event appropriately, the Trahünt elementary school prepared special activities for its students a few days earlier.

In Trahütten, the national holiday was all about history lessons. A visit to the ÖKB Trahütten was perceived particularly exciting. The comrades of the ÖKB gave the children interesting insights into the history of Austria. With a lot of passion and commitment, they told stories that aroused children's interest in their own history.

creative activities and traditions

The stories, many of them came from contemporary witnesses, were carefully followed by the students. Such lively stories help to deepen understanding of the historical importance of the holiday and make history tangible. According to the exciting stories, the children were able to show their creativity by making red and white-red flags, which they proudly swiveled and thus contributed to the festive framework of the day.

The crowning glory of the celebrations formed a common chestnut roast, which gave everyone a lot of fun involved. Many thanks go to everyone who supported this project, especially to the chairman Florian Kappaun of the ÖKB Trahünt. The school was pleased: "It was a nice day when we celebrated our national identity together and at the same time learned a lot about our history."

The commitment of the ÖKB and the active participation of the students contributed to creating the national holiday for an educational and entertaining experience for everyone. Such events not only promote understanding of one's own history, but also strengthen the sense of community among young people.
