Figure and charity: Ice crib in the Graz Landhaushof opened

Preparations for this year's ice crèche in the Landhaushof in Graz are in full swing. The artistically carved figures, which will be solemnly unveiled next Saturday, come from the talented hand of Martina Hatzl, Antti Pedrozo and Martin Wölkart, under the overall management of Kimmo Frosti. The artists worked in Stainz, where the 2 x 1 x 0.50 meter ice blocks were edited. These blocks were specially imported from Latvia and made it bladder -free by a special cold process. On Wednesday the transport to Graz is pending, where the spectacle is celebrated as part of a ceremony.

The Finnish choreographer Kimmo Frosti announced that this year also shaped new figures such as sheep, donkeys and cows. Each animal is made in triple execution in order to enable a quick replacement in unfavorable weather conditions. The figure skill not only attracts attention, but is also part of a social initiative that was created by Katharina Lukas. This connection between art and charity gives the event a special sense.

social support for Mia Sophie

The proceeds from the event achieved will be used this year for the support of Mia Sophie, a 20-month-old girl with Down syndrome who also suffers from heart and bowel diseases. Mia Sophie has to be operated on several times and has already received help through donations. Mia Sophie with her parents was present in the Schaauschnitz campaign, which gave the event another emotional painting.

In addition, a group of the Blind and Visually Impaired Association of Styria used the opportunity to feel the characters. A representative of the group, Jens Sakelsek, expressed the desire to be able to experience the characters in this special way. Further public appearances by the carvings are planned for December 20 and 21 in Stainz, where they present their art on the main square.

The combination of art, social commitment and festive occasion promises to make the beginning of the Advent season in Graz an unforgettable experience. As the announcement by the Grünewald team shows, this is not only a celebration of winter beauty, but also a warm invitation to support the community and to recognize the upcoming challenges.
