Stefan Raab's TV comeback: flop or end of an era?
Stefan Raab's comeback on television has turned out to be a flop. The show "You do not win the million at Stefan Raab" on February 12, 2025 comes to a standstill after only 32 episodes. The odds were fluctuating from the start, with a first day of broadcasting, which reached 1.59 million viewers and 15.5% market share in the target group of 14 to 49-year-old. But the ratings dropped drastically until April 2025. The number of spectators in the relevant target group fell, except for shocking 0.23 million, such as vienna.at.
Today's last issue on June 12, 2025 was seen by only 0.72 million viewers and marks the first decline below the million limit, which resulted in a devastating market share of only 3.6 percent. In direct comparison, the ZDF format "File number XY ... unresolved" had over six times as many spectators as it was as many spectators as [RuHR24.de] (https://www.ruhr24.de/promi-tv/tv-news/stefan-raab-raab-rtl-show-ende-sommerpause-tv-rogramm-program broadcast dating-quoten-937814444.html) highlights. Another special, the event show "Chefsick ESC 2025", was also unable to convince and only recorded 0.73 million viewers.
causes of failure
rtl sees the less successful combination of quiz, games show and comedy as one of the main reasons for the failure of the show. RTL program manager Inga Leschek said that hybrid formats were difficult to establish on classic television and that the mixture was not well received by the spectators. Although the show initially achieved good results in streaming on RTL+, the success in the linear TV program failed to materialize. This is particularly regrettable in view of the earlier success of Raab's formats that had regularly achieved over two million viewers and market shares over 20% in the 2000s, so dwdl.de.
The final attitude of the show in its previous form comes after a seasonal summer break and is primarily due to the lack of acceptance among the audience. A comparison to a new edition of "TV Total" with Sebastian Pufpaff clearly shows that the quotas of Raab's comeback have stayed far behind the expectations.
