St. Johann: Kindergarten shines with a new MINT seal of approval!
St. Johann im Walde, Österreich - st. Johann im Walde has reason to be happy: The local kindergarten was awarded the coveted MINT seal of approval. This award has already been awarded to two East Tyrolean kindergartens and is part of a nationwide initiative that has set itself the goal of promoting early education in mathematics, computer science, science and technology. MINT stands for the four disciplines, which are of essential importance in today's information society, such as dolomitenstadt.at.
From autumn 2024, Mint should be an important focus in the everyday life of the kindergarten. The pedagogical implementation includes innovative approaches such as getting to know numbers, an "experiment of the week", as well as a weekly natural day and regular excursions. Kindergarten manager Tamara Stolz reports on the great enthusiasm of the children for this program, which is continuously expanded by the pedagogical specialists to implement new projects for the coming kindergarten year.
The MINT seal of approval in Austria
In the period from 2021 to 2024, 449 MINT kindergartens and schools were awarded in Austria as part of a special initiative. At an event in the House of Industry, high-ranking representatives, including Federal Minister Heinz Faßmann and IV President Georg Knill, handed over the awards. In the course of this, 58 new MINT education institutions were awarded, while 87 institutions received recertification. A total of 145 submissions from kindergartens to Matura classes, such as ots.at reported.
The initiative has set itself the goal of using synergies between educational institutions, administration and companies in order to promote interest in MINT formation in the early childhood area. IV President Knill emphasizes the importance of MINT for technology and prosperity, while Rector Ruth Petz emphasizes the central role of teachers in MINT lessons. The awarded receive a digital logo and a wall badge, with the seal of approval for a period of three years.
Early MINT formation as a key to development
According to current findings, the early promotion of mathematical and scientific skills is crucial for the individual development of children. These topics have already been anchored in many educational plans, whereby the responsibility for implementation lies with the day care centers and the pedagogical specialists. Early childhood mathematical education should be found in everyday situations, since basic mathematical skills also influence other education areas and school development, such as the nifbe.de
Developmental psychological findings show that children have intuitive knowledge in mathematics and natural sciences in infancy. The ability to categorize things and establish relationships between objects is further promoted by contact with scientific phenomena in everyday life. It is therefore essential that children are introduced to these topics in a playful way in order to develop interest and trust in their own skills.
In summary, it can be said that the MINT program in the St. Johann kindergarten in the forest not only inspires the children, but also plays an essential role in early education. The initiative illustrates the positive influence of MINT on the cognitive and social development of the children and sets important impulses for the future.
