SpaceX rocket Starship 36 explodes: Security zone without injuries!

In the night of Wednesday (local time) there was an incident that makes the space community list: A starship rocket from the US room trip company SpaceX exploded during a routine test on the floor in Texas. The incident occurred when the Starship 36 rocket was prepared for its tenth test flight. SpaceX announced that a security zone was maintained during the test and confirmed that no staff was injured. All employees are good and there is no danger for residents.

The authorities in Texas described the explosion as "catastrophic failure" and asked the public to keep away from the test site. The Starbase team is currently working on securing the test area and the surrounding area in cooperation with local authorities. SpaceX spoke of a "serious anomaly" and confirmed that all security measures were observed.

setbacks for SpaceX

This explosion is not the first incident for the Starship project. Already at the ninth test flight in May 2025 there was an explosion before the rocket was able to return to earth safely. Even during the eighth test flight, parts of the rocket were damaged during the flight, which could be seen over Florida and the Caribbean. Despite these setbacks, SpaceX had previously recorded success, including reaching the space and a controlled landing in the Indian Ocean.

Elon Musk commented on the incident by saying: "Just a scratch" (translated: "Only a scratch"). He had previously announced that he would do the next test flights faster so as not to endanger the project's schedule. SpaceX continues to pursue ambitious goals, including the development of fully electric means of transport for the moon and Mars.

Influence of SpaceX on the space industry

SpaceX was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, with the aim of reducing the costs for space transports and creating the possibility of marshalonization. Through innovative technologies, SpaceX fundamentally changed the space industry and revitalized the competition. The development of the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon room capsule, which is the first private spacecraft that flew to the International Space Station (ISS), have redefined the possibilities of space travel.

The reusable rockets significantly reduce the costs of access to space and enable a higher frequency of space missions. SpaceX is also planning to promote both humans and supplies to the moon and Mars with the Starship. In addition, the company offers suborbital and all -encompassing flights for paying customers, thereby promoting space tourism. Through such projects, SpaceX shows that private companies can make significant contributions to space travel and strengthen the cooperation of international actors.
