A dangerous combination also forms curtains and candles that can quickly caught fire due to the proximity to the tree.

It becomes particularly risky when the tree stands next to a heating source or a fireplace. The heat lets the needles dry out and increases the risk of flame. A dangerous place is also an unsafe surface - such as a slate floor or a carpet - where the tree can easily tip over. The ideal location is a stable place in a corner or on a wall, far away from radiators and curtains. The power source for fairy lights should also be easily accessible, without creating stumbling blocks in the room. As a rule of thumb, it is advisable to set up the real tree about a week before Christmas and to water regularly, while artificial trees can be placed earlier.
