Skills checks 2025: Germany's path to qualified specialists!
Österreich - On April 25, 2025, Federal Minister Hattmannsdorfer announced the new edition of the Skills Scheck, which represent a significant step to improve the training and further education of employees. This initiative is particularly important to meet the challenges of digital transformation, which places new demands on the qualifications of the employees in many industries. According to Kurt Egger, General Secretary of the Economic Association and ÖVP business spokesman, qualified employees are crucial for economic growth, securing jobs and the general prosperity of society. He also emphasized the long-term securing of the health and social system.
The Skills Scheck offers companies the opportunity to receive financial support for the further training of their employees. This funding takes place in the form of non -repayable grants, which specifically target the invoice amounts of the external further training costs. A maximum funding of up to 5,000 euros can be applied for per employee, with the funding rate 50% of the eligible costs. An example of clarification: With further training costs of 10,000 euros, the company receives a funding of 5,000 euros, while the grant is capped at EUR 12,000 to 5,000 euros. A maximum of five people can be funded per company, and each person can only claim one check per tender, as the ffg explained in detail.
The role of further training in the current working world
The need for solid vocational training is also underlined by the challenges of digitization. Employers primarily have responsibility for continuity training, but employees also receive support from the measures of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) and other institutions. These support offers are aimed not only at the unemployed, but also to already employees in order to expand their qualifications and to protect them from unemployment. There is an increased risk of losing the job, especially for employees without or with vocational qualifications that are no longer usable. The BMAS therefore emphasizes the need to offer such further training measures.
There is a legal claim to funding for employees who have no vocational qualification, as well as for the subsequent acquisition of a professional qualification. In addition, further training measures and the approved measures can be assessed by the employment agency or job center. This ensures structured and needs -based further training. All relevant information is available on the website of the BMAS
The funding also includes measures to obtain school qualifications and qualified partial qualifications, which intensifies access to further vocational training and the qualification mix in the world of work can be improved. Overall, the new edition of Scheck's Skills is an important building block for the economic future and promoting further training in Germany.
