Students: Inner parliament demands future plans: redesigning education!

On June 13, 2025, the Austrian student came together: Inner parliament (ÖSIP) in the Hohen House. Students: Inside from all over Austria, their applications presented in a plenary debate, with a total of 25 suggestions treated that are important for different school types. The debate took place in the newly renovated parliament building on the ring and was characterized by a wide variety of topics. A central concern of the young people was the development of knowledge and skills for coping with the future.

of the applications were selected seven for the plenary debate and received support for the presentation at the Federal Ministry of Education (BMB) and the National Council. The application "(teaching) plan for life" calls for the introduction of flex and module systems at schools in order to make everyday education up to date. Another application is committed to a subject of "economic and financial education", while pupils: inside demand mandatory AI formation from secondary level I.

The participants: Inside, emphasizing the need to train young people in dealing with the media and AI generated content. Media education is to be closely linked to democracy education, which requires the introduction of an independent school subject for democracy formation. In addition to these important aspects, applications to improve everyday school life were also dealt with. So the students demanded that better support offers for those who experience bullying, exclusion or violence.

The application to support students is particularly noteworthy: inside with dyslexia and dyscalculia, which was unanimously accepted. Another proposal is committed to upgrading teaching as an important educational path for vocational students: inside. Federal school spokeswoman Mira Langhammer looked back on an intensive working year of the federal students: internal agency and thanked the participants: inside for their commitment.

The debate was accepted by a large majority, with many amendments to be discussed. Parliament director Harald Dossi paid tribute to the students' democratic claims: Interior and Minister of Education Martin Polaschek emphasized the importance of democratic participation. State Secretary of Youth Claudia Plakolm emphasized the relevance of the student: Inner parliament since his statutory anchoring in 2018. This institution gives weight to young people and enables the students to represent directly: inner interests.

The elaborated applications are now presented to the Ministry of Education, Science and Research as well as the education spokesman: inside of the National Council parties. The event took place at the invitation of National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka and the federal student: internal agency. At the greeting, the deputies Rudolf Taschner (ÖVP), Sybille Hamann (Greens), Yannick Shetty (NEOS) and Hermann Brückl (FPÖ) welcomed: Inside, before Federal School spokeswoman Flora Schmudermayer spoke the final words.

The discussions and decisions of today's meeting clearly show that there is a great interest in current educational issues among young people. The students: Inner parliamentarians: Inside, not only changes in education policy, but also a better consideration of their needs in the curricula. This is in accordance with the results of the national education report, which was published in December 2024 and deals with challenges such as the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational landscape.

The students: Inside, it is aware that these topics are crucial for their future and are actively committed to raising their voice in education policy.
