The importance of traffic safety

traffic accidents are a serious problem in the European Union, where thousands of people are losing their lives or are seriously injured in such incidents. Between 2010 and 2020, the number of traffic fatalities in Europe was reduced by a significant 36 percent. Nevertheless, many young people, especially between 18 and 24, still die in traffic accidents every year. This age group only makes up 8 percent of the EU population, but was responsible for 12 percent of the road fatalities in 2018. The focus on traffic safety is therefore of great importance to avoid accidents such as those in Kinsdorf.

Total traffic accidents with trapped people are a common application situation for fire brigade and emergency services. A guide for such operations provides for the traffic accidents to be processed in three steps: exploration, analysis and planning. This enables the emergency services to react structured and effectively to such emergencies.

The incident in Kinsdorf not only illustrates the dangers of road traffic, but also the need for effective rescue measures and the constant efforts to improve traffic safety.
