Terrible motorcycle accident on the Großglockner: two drivers injured!

Großglockner Hochalpenstraße, Österreich - On August 11, 2025, a serious motorcycle accident occurred on the Großglockner High Alpine Road. Two motorcycles were involved: a 19-year-old German and a 60-year-old Italian who was traveling as a passenger with his wife. The accident passed in the immediate area in front of Kehre 22, where everyone involved came to fall. The 19-year-old was thrown into rough terrain after the fall on the right side of the road and fell there about 30 meters deep.

The 60-year-old and his wife plunged in the area of the right roadside, while the Italian passenger remained unharmed. Both motorcyclists were flown to hospitals with injuries of an indefinite degree: the 19-year-old to the BKH Lienz and the 60-year-old to the Tauernklinikum Zell am See. During the investigation, the Großglockner High Alpine Road was temporarily closed, which led to traffic disruptions. Another serious accident occurred on August 29, 2024 when a 39-year-old German motorcyclist was out and fell in a curve. The reason for the fall is previously unknown, but the driver was thrown over the guiding rail and fell about 130 meters into rocky terrain. Tragically, the man died at the scene of the accident.
