Shock in the Congo: 70 Christians beheaded - escape from Islamist rebels!

In a shattering incident in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the corpses of 70 beheaded Christians were found in a church in the territory Lubero. According to reports from the aid organization Open Doors , these people were previously kidnapped by the Islamist rebel group ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) from the village of Mayba brought in Kasenga. The cruel deed took place last week and led to the flight of many Christians from the region who tried to get to safety. Due to the chaotic security situation in Lubero, all churches, schools and health centers have already been closed.

rebellion and chaos

The North-Kivu region, in which Lubero is located, has been shaped by power struggles and uncertainty for years, with several militant groups, including the ADF, brutally attacking the Christian communities. The military administrator of Lubero, Alain Kiwewa, announced that the incident would be examined. Witness reports cite a local parishion of the community who expressed her despair about the ongoing massacre and the uncertain situation by saying: "We do not know what to do or how to pray; we have enough of the massacres." The security situation has intensified in recent years and the ADF has proven to be particularly aggressive against Christians in the region.

The ADF, which has known itself as the "Islamic State", is responsible for numerous attacks on Christian villages, in which not only pastors and priests, but also ordinary civilians are suffering. The reports show that Christian converts, especially those with a Muslim background, are under enormous pressure and are often exposed to forced recruitment or violence if they refuse to take part in non-Christian activities. The comprehensive persecution has led to the country in the world tracking index of Open Doors as one of the dangerous for Christians.
