New 45 meter high crane in the festival district: construction activities started
In the heart of Salzburg, an impressive crane was erected, which now serves as a new landmark. The 45 meter high crane, which was built on November 13, has the distinctive name "Krake". With his 60 -meter -long boom, he supports the construction work for the new visitor center and the cooling systems of the Festspielhaus. This is another sign that the work in the 2030 Festival district has passed into a new phase.
The front -sided line -up of the crane is not only a technical challenge, but also a visual spectacle. The crantic, which towers on two concrete base, weighs twelve tons and spans a street directly in front of the Sigmundstor (Neutor). The special challenge during the structure was the above-ground power lines of the O-bus, which had to be undercut by the construction.
The logistics behind the implementation
In order to properly carry out the installations, traffic barriers were necessary in two nights from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During this time, however, emergency vehicles and local public transport could continue to pass. This procedure ensures that the construction work runs smoothly and at the same time the most necessary traffic needs are taken into account.
"The planning began with the preparations in August for setting up the 45 -meter high crane, from the ground level," explained Thomas Dürnberger, project manager of Strabag.
On the financial aspects: The construction of the festival center receives a generous donation of twelve million euros from the Swiss entrepreneur Hans-Peter Wild. This investment is crucial to advance the project and meet the high requirements.
With these developments, the city of Salzburg aims to increase the attractiveness of the festival district and increase the number of visitors. The entire project could play an important role in the cultural landscape of Salzburg in the long term and create the framework for future events.
