Derby victories and surprising defeats in the Alps Hockey League

In the Alps Hockey League, several teams celebrated exciting derbies on Thursday. The HK RST Pellet Celje and the Rittner Buam Skyalps were able to win their games for themselves, while other teams were also successful away. Particularly noteworthy is the impressive home win of Hafro Cortina Hockey, which hit the leader Zell am See 6-0 and thus ended the impressive winning streak of the Zeller Eisbären.

The game started for the hosts after 62 seconds with a goal from Nikita Ushnev, followed by another goal by Luca Barnabò in the first third. Cortina expanded the lead in the middle section to 4-0 with two fast goals from Barnabò and Leonardo Felicetti and did not allow in the final phase either. With an impressive shutout by Goalie Hayden Hawkey, they secured the high victory, which underlines their current shape.

Rittner Buam Skyalps on the track of success

The Rittner Buam Skyalps, reigning champions, also played impressively and won 4: 2 against Val Gardena. Alan Lobis scored the only goal for Ritten in the first third, while the team in the middle section in the meantime pulled to 3: 0. After the hosts shortened by Jordan di Cicco, Manuel Öhler restored the old gap with his second goal. This victory catapulted the Rittner Buam in second place in the table and overtaken them by Kitzbühel.

In another exciting derby, Celje was able to go on a 2-1 win against Jesenice. The Finnish goalie Aleksanteri Heikanen made a perfect debut with 46 saves. After an early goal for the home side, Celje equalized in the first third and finally scored the decisive goal through Miha logar in the 28th minute. With this victory, Celje improves to seventh place in the table and shows that they are willing to fight harder.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors also cut off well and won 4-1 against KHL SISAK. A lead goal by Adrian Geson in the first third laid the foundation for the victory. Although Sisak was able to compensate for, the Juniors succeeded shortly before the second break, which they expanded in the final third. The Salzburgers have already established themselves as a serious competitor this season.

The duel between EC Bregenzerwald and HC Merano ended with a 3-1 win for the Vorarlberg. Marcel Wohlluth put Bregenzerwald in the lead in the first third and the team further expanded the lead in the middle section. Merano only managed to make a goal after a goal from Teruto Nakajima, but the game remained at the EC Bregenzerwald, which was able to improve to tenth place.
