New commander in the Goiginger barracks: Captain Katschnig takes over

In the Goiginger barracks in Bleiburg, a change of management took place. Captain Christoph Katschnig, a native of Carinthia, took over the management of Major Markus Wunder on September 1st. Katschnig, who became active at the Austrian Armed Forces in 2012, brought extensive experiences from various stations, including the military academy in Wiener Neustadt and its earlier missions in Tamsweg.

Currently there are 77 cader candidates in training as a sergeant in the barracks, an important step in their military career. The course runs until mid -January, with the patterns of graduates in February. Interestingly, the participants come mainly from Carinthia and Styria, which underlines regional connection.

commitment to the community

Captain Katschnig emphasizes that the continuation of the previous collaboration in the barracks is important to him. He maintains intensive contact with the municipality of Bleiburg and with various operational organizations. "It is important that we know each other, especially for the emergency," he explains. This close cooperation not only ensures a family climate in the barracks, but also a solid basis for teamwork in an emergency.

With his commitment, Katschnig aims to create a pleasant work environment and continue the tradition of the barracks in Bleiburg. He would also like to maintain the family atmosphere that he experienced in Tamsweg in his new role. He not only sees his task in leading the barracks, but also maintaining contact with the population.
