Discover Mars: New interactive exhibition in the House of Nature

In the House of Nature in Salzburg, a special exhibition on Mars will open from November 29, 2024. This exciting show is devoted to the question of how future people could live on the red planet. Visitors have the opportunity to deal with topics related to the Mars residence and possible sources of food.

The interactive exhibition entitled "Mars - The Discovery of the Red Planet" was designed by the curators Julia Weratschnig and Barbara Loidl. Through a safety lock, visitors enter the exhibition and experience an impressive high -resolution view of Mars. The special thing about this presentation is the various adventure stations that enable visitors to feel the topography of the planet based on a tactile model. Another highlight is a piece of real Mars rock in the form of meteorites that visitors in the House of Nature can see. These pieces come from asteroid strikes that transported material from Mars to the earth.

interactive elements and urge to research

An innovative area of the exhibition is the "Biolab", where interested fictional samples from Mars can analyze to find out which elements are contained in these Mars content. Through these practical activities, visitors' research urge is awakened and exciting insights into the research results of the Mars missions are given.

The exhibition also contains a special “Mars kitchen” that shows which food could be generated under the extreme conditions of Mars. Grow houses with vegetables and algae breeding sites are also presented to give visitors an idea of how the nutrition could be on Mars.

Although Mars appears like a cold and dry desert for many, it is most similar to the earth. As a result, many ask themselves whether there were ever life on Mars or whether it could still exist today. A central point of these considerations is the presence of liquid water, its search and the various water compositions are dealt with in detail in the special exhibition.

This important exhibition, which offers insights into American spatial research, promises not only interesting information, but also a variety of activities for all ages. With its opening, the House of Nature marks another important step in the imparting of knowledge about space and the possibilities of human settlement of foreign planets.

Details on the exhibition are also on www.meinbezirk.at published.
