A devastating fire in a production hall of the Maco fittings in Salzburg mobilized hundreds of firefighters in the night of Friday. The fire broke out around 10.30 p.m., and the flaming embers were not completely under control in the early morning. During the extinguishing work, two people who were immediately taken to the hospital were injured. According to fire director Werner Kloiber, it was particularly challenging because the flames in the chemical laboratory focused on dangerous chemicals. Chemical specialists were requested to ensure that no toxic substances escape. The road to the site, Alpenstrasse, was blocked, while drones are used to support fire fighting. In addition to the injured people, the Red Cross looked after twelve other employees of the company on site, as the Krone reported.
