Revolution in aging: Researchers reveal secrets for a healthy life
From June 13th to 15th, 2025, the training congress of the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists takes place in Pörtschach on Lake Wörthersee. The central theme of this congress is the revolution of aging. International researchers and practitioners will present the latest methods and active ingredients that promise promises to avoid diseases and restrictions in old age and to extend healthy life. Susanne Ergott Badawi, co-conference president, emphasizes the topicality of the topics of staying young and health. The program includes a wide range of contributions to the effects of plant active ingredients against skin aging.
The first day of the congress will deal with the inevitable of aging and the question will raise the question of which biological programs can be developed to overcome the signs of aging. On the second day, the focus of biomedical research approaches and the prevention of age diseases. For this purpose, spermidine is discussed as a hope for cellular rejuvenation processes. In addition, lectures on topics such as fasting, nutrition and mental health are kept in old age.
nutrition and their role in the aging process
Latest studies show that a sperm -rich diet can extend the healthy lifespan. An investigation carried out by an international team of researchers under the direction of the Innsbruck Medical University shows that subjects who consume at least 80 µmol spermidine a day have a lower risk of dying within 20 years. These results were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The research is based on data from 829 participants of the Bruneck study.
spermidine is available in high concentration in seed fluid and certain body cells and is also produced by certain intestinal bacteria. The increased absorption of spermidine can be promoted by eating food such as germs, peas, whole grains, apples, and matured cheese. These foods support the cell -free -free process, also known as autophagy, which loses efficiency in old age. A diet consisting of two portions of whole grain bread, twice lettuce and one apple a day could offer a good basis for the desired spermidine intake.
healthy biomarker in old age
In addition, a study, published in the magazine "Age and Aging", illuminates the role of molecular biomarkers for healthy aging. A team of researchers under the direction of Krasimira Aleksandrova analyzed data from the Epic Potsdam study to identify blood-biomarkers that distinguish healthy older people from those with chronic diseases. The results include that healthy older people maintain optimal values of certain metabolic products. These discover a common protective mechanism against age -related diseases.
The concentrations of biomarkers such as HDL cholesterol, oboneectin and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-2 correlate with a greater probability without living without chronic diseases. A balanced diet, physical activity and stress management are further tips to minimize the risk of age -related diseases. These findings emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle in old age.
The congress in Pörtschach will not only bundle current research results, but also serve as a platform for future developments in the field of aging. With the question "Do we really have to grow old?" the congress suggests thinking about the possibilities of a healthy, long life.
